I am putting the finishing touches on a 4 man 8x8 hut and am having a dilemma as too where to locate holes. On one hand I'm putting in bunks and 4 holes in the centre is the easiest way to go, and this works well for perch fishing. On the other hand I'd like to put them in the corners to separate the holes as much as possible when jigging for walleye, allowing for spoon flutter and current.
Keep in mind that the door is on one end and the propane furnace is at the opposite end.

Put the holes outside!! That's way to small to be a bungalow.

I stayed in a 12x20 with four of us and it was crowded.

Make your bunks fold up and then the holes can be close to the corners. Or make your bunks 6 ft long leaving room for holes in the corners still. Feet can hang over end of bunks. You might also want a couple holes down the middle for fish finders. Things that may work.

I'm thinking that you were staying on Nipissing or Simcoe or another body of water that can consistently support the monster bungalows.
I have decided not to go bigger than this for my first year. The Bay can be fickle and ice conditions are never to be taken for granted.
If all works out this year I will consider larger huts.
I'd like this to be fishing adventures, not pulling huts out of the water adventures.

Ok but you gotta think about gear for a weekend. 8x8 as a two man might be more reasonable.

I built this hut 9 ft tall to allow plenty of room in the bunks.
I will be using similar sized (but shorter) for 2 ppl, but I was trying to make one big enough for 4 without making it too heavy and enormous.
Anybody that's rents this 4 man will be given a better rate to compensate for the slightly cramped quarters. I suppose I could also add a pop up to allow for more room for the serious fishing hours.

I am considering making the bottom bunks to fold up like sleeper seats on a boat to allow for corner holes. I'm going to experiment tomorrow to see what works.

You can put the holes anywhere so long as you put cover plates on that create a seamless floor. The ones I stayed in on Nipigon had holes all over and the user decided which ones to use. 8X8 will be nice size for two. Post pictures of your finished creation.

Personally I like t trench right down the middle, I have a 5x9 hut with a 10"x8' trench down the middle with bench seats on either side. You can drill quite a few holes in that trench or if ya want you could use a saw and open the whole trench up, not a fan of that personally
