Coming up this weekend to fish around Shermans - Huffs wondering if anybody has been out yet across the ice with an Snowmobile or atv? Thinking there has to be at least 6" of ice.
Thanks in advance to all that reply if any

Hey Larry,

I'm wondering the same but for big island area. I would think there should be sufficient ice by now but a confirmation from anyone would be great.

Huffs in my opinion, would only take ATV up the east side, high shore way too dangerous, lots of current.
From my experience, I alway walk first to the area I am going and make my own judgment.(gotta see it to believe it) Ice to inconsistent throughout the bay.

Thanks Teppy for the reply. I'm bringing the sled & will walk out & punch some holes first before taking it out. I don't care if it sits in the trailer all weekend I'd rather live to fish another day.

Larry, saw a few sleds out there last night but a guy on a quad stopped on the shore and walked out, must of thought it was unsafe? 6 inches of black ice at huffs where I was with 6 of snow made for hard walking,
Tim

7-8" off wagers today, no problems. Quite a few 4 wheelers and sleds out.

I was on a sled on West Lake today but not that far off shore. If you are heading south of the Bofq, make sure you check as you go. Last Sunday there were some open spots and then we got a bunch of snow that Belleville didn't.
