I got 1 good fish there this morning and a stinger hook sealed the deal! They were defiantly not very aggressive today so I always throw a stinger on when it's a slow bite.

you should always use two minnows at a time on your spoons and they have to be the ones with the red stripe down the sides and three on low days

Does anybody fish lures only with no bait with success.

I haven't ice fished for 20 years but since muskie closed dec 15 I've been bored enough to try anything. I'm in Tweed and I don't think there are minnows in town any longer.

You can use the sebile vibrato with no minnow and catch lots of fish!!!! They have a crazy action and vibration in the water. But you can't get them anywhere right now there sold out. I believe you can get your hands on 3/4oz and 1 oz vibratos but that's like havin a brick on the end of your line. They came out with a 3/8 oz this year. 3/8 or 1/2oz. Natural shiner in the 2 1/2"

I've read a few articles from In-Fisherman magazine, Outdoor Canada etc...and viewed some videos on Youtube and guys like Gord Pyzer, Doug Stange and guides from different lakes in Canada seem to NOT use minnows when fishing for Walleye. (unless of course on a deadstick or a tip-up) If they do decide to tip their lures with bait, they just use the head. They will use whole minnows when fishing for perch.
I was fishing 2 weekends ago on Scugog, and perch were hitting a jigging rap style bait with no minnow, so I'm sure a Walleye would!!!
Gord Pyzer says " I wouldn't give you a dime for a whole minnow, but I'd give you a quarter for the head"
