Quinte Fishing

Was wondering if anybody has any luck fishing after dark? I like to stay out but notice everybody leaves. I wasn't sure if the bite stays on or if it's wasted time with low success. Also do fish move shallow at night in the winter. Any input would be greatly appreciate. Thanks in advance

I only get out to Quinte a few times a year & typically we fish past sunset. We really don't have any success to show for it though. I suspect that our location that fishes well in the morning & evening isn't as well travelled after the sun is completely down. I've often wondered if in fact the fish are working their way back from deeper water & we are just intercepting them in the evening as they head for the shallows? The reverse would be happening in the morning too I would think.

Just my experience though & I'm far from an expert. Tight lines!

Great question ! Two four's answer makes sense. I usually fish till 45 min. after sundown, but rarely get any hits in the last hour. I'm betting they do go shallow. I hope some of the "old pros" here take a minute to post an answer as well...

I spent quite a bit of time last winter fishing in the dark after I got off work. I drilled holes from 3 FOW to 15 FOW and tried all sorts of baits but never really found a pattern that produced consistently. Everytime I went out as dark approached I watched as others were coming in and knew there was a good reason for this but it was the only time I had to go.

One thing is for sure, you won't catch anything sitting on your couch at home.

I had a customer staying in 1 of my huts overnight Mon. and had a large eye up to the hole at 930 PM but lost it.
I wasn't there, so I can't verify, but encouraging for overnighters.

only on FULL MOON , they need time to adjust to low light....... normally just to dark

on FULL MOON , start fishing again 10-10:30

we've found 10:30 to 2pm successful but only on FULL MOON

BOQ is extremely stained/murky water, I'm sure that affects the ABOVE negatively
