I'm looking for a little info on fishing the huffs. I've never fished there before but have heard alot of good things from there. Just trying to find out ice conditions and how far of a walk is it to get to good areas for a chance at some walleyes. I'm trying to get my 9 year old twin boys out for a fish and I have the added challenge of my one son in a wheel chair(therfore the questions about short walk and safe ice)!! We will be on foot no access to a four wheeler or snowmobile. Any info would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Parking – you can park on the ice at the end of the road, I did it all last weekend with no issue but you have to be there pretty early to get a “safe” spot that isn’t to far off shore. The other option is parking in the pay lot just up from the lake. A local plows his field and allows fisherman to park for the day for $5. It is well worth it and not a very far of a walk. If the pay lot is the best option, you could unload everything at the end of the road, including the boys, and park the car and walk back.

Fishing – there are lots of people that walk straight out from Huffs Road and catch lots of fish. Anywhere from 24-31 FOW will produce fish. There is a bit of snow on the ice right now which might cause a bit of an issue pushing the wheelchair out but it shouldn’t be too much of a problem. You will see huts out there already, just set up in that general area (but not too close to another hut) and you will be in business.

I hope this helps.

If you turn right onto county Rd 9 just after the pioneer has station. You are roughly 15 km out. There is a bait store about 5 minutes before u get to huffs called the dew drop in. You can purchase your bait there and they will give u all the info u need for Huffs

'Dew Drop In' bait shop treated us VERY well this weekend!
One of the few places you get more than what you pay for

And VERY helpful with local fishing info
They even had some 1 lb propane bottles on hand

Will be back to give our business in the future for sure!
