So this is my first year having a solid hut on the ice and ive made the mistake of not getting it off before the snow. I tried for hours yesterday to get to it but didnt even get close. Alot of stuck quad and shoveling to go 2 feet before shoveling again. This is with plow and chains... i think my only hope is to come across bay to bain fron onderdonks. Anyone have any suggestions on what i should do. Totally worried right now.

You have time , don't worry , try making a large smitty sled , put your hut on top to get it above the snow , if you know someone that welds steel tubing would be better than wood

Yeah, still lots of time yet, plus the MNR CO's I've talked to would most likely give you a break if you got to the end of the season and it was still mired. For the most part, the spirit of the regulation is to ensure huts aren't abandoned. If they know who's it is and you are making an honest effort to remove it, they will likely give you a break....

One thing I would recommend is making sure it's jacked up and clear. Mired in snow is one thing. Having a melt and having it get stuck in the ice is definitely another....

I hope to get back down to fish soon and if I do I'll be bringing my sled and can give you a hand to pull it in, just not sure when I'm coming. Don't get to worried about it as long as its not froze in...... Hanco

Where is it? If ice is good I'll hook my truck to er and pull it in for ya. Just make sure you block it so it's not froze in or you'll be taking a chainsaw out with ya!

Thanks guys, it is on blocks so not worried about freeze in. Its west side of onderdonks before pressure crack in the channel. I will wait and see what the weather does here over the next couple of weeks before i trouble anyone to help a stranger. My quad just sits to low even with 4x4 and a plow to do anything out there right now. Really appreciate the input.

I drove a ford over to donks yesterday all the way from bain park. The ford sits lower than my chevy so it wouldn't be much to get over there.

I have hutt or did to much hockey this year on the St.Lawrence it's built so it can be dissembled piece by piece if needed easier to deal with if snowed in. I wish they would extend the date for removal, last few years when I took mine off there was still 1-2' of ice.
