Headed to Napanee late Wednesday to spend 5 days fishing. Hit Sherman's Thursday morning and found the walk not bad as there were some nicely packed sled trails heading the direction I was going. Got set up in the vicinity of Witlow Pt. in 29' of water and started marking fish right away. Landed a 2.5 and missed a few more, with lots of chasers. Around 11am big mark shows up and proceeded to work it and got it to commit only to lose it after a couple of head shakes. Action started again at 4pm with another 2.5 and a 13". Then hook into a hog and it comes off at 15'. Drop the spoon back in it's face and hook up again only to lose it at the hole. Heartbreaking as it looked to be in the 11-12lb range. The walk back was horrendous after all the blowing snow during the day.
Friday back to Sherman's but set up closer to boat launch in 22' and managed a bunch of very small eyes.
Saturday two of my buddies came up and I decided to hit Witlow again. Lots of packed trails to get there with all the traffic. We managed a bunch more small eyes and lost a few decent ones. The fish did go crazy for about half an hour around 5pm with the units lighting up but we either got a little one or lost the better ones. Walk in was horrendous again because of more snow. Lots of guys stuck with 4 wheelers and even a truck.
Sunday headed to Huff's and it was a bust. Lots of chasers but none that would commit. The walk here was actually pretty good.
Back to Huff's today and decided to try a little deeper in 32'. Action was slow until noon. I had one come in and immediately chase the spoon up 2' before smashing it. Landed a 4lber and saw another mark come in. Dropped down and it came up to meet spoon 5' from bottom. Twitched it twice and the fight was on. Landed a 29" eye which I figure in the 8-9lb range. That was it for the day.
Hot bait at Sherman's was 1/3oz and 1/2oz gold and orange sidewinder. At Huff's 3/4oz gold pimple.
Good luck to all for the end of the season!!!

Saw that truck stuck out there on Saturday as well. We got a 10lb, 9lb, 3lb, couple lost and couple we missed. A skidoo was a huge bonus.
