Headed out to Onders yesterday, started out a little late because of the snow plows on the highway. Parked the truck around 630, paid my toonie and began the trek. It was quickly realized we had no business walkin but we gotta work all weekend so this was our last chance. Wind was tremendous and there was some pretty big drifts. We cut our walk short and set up in about 13ft. The wind was shakin the shack all day but we stayed at it. All in all we should have not made the trek... 4 little dinkers was all we got and a bunch of 8" perch. Lots of big marks showed up around 5 but couldnt coax them into a bite. Packed up about 645 and started the tough walk back into shore. Oh well was worth a shot, cant wait till next year. Any one considering Onders I would say bring a sled.... quads wont get through the drifts and walking was more than a work out .
Cheers
Nick

Nick,

Even though you didn't catch the mother load, your post was still more informative as most. At least you gave it a good final try.

Good post. I should have read it earlier as I'm sitting out here now. Definetly a snowmobile day. 5 lookers but no takers. Gonna pack up soon as my heater won't fire up and the flasher is dead quiet.

Thanks guys, I have been using this site as the bible for quinte for quite some time now. I figured even thought it wasnt a great day fishing that someone might find the conditions helpful so I threw a quick report together. Thanks for looking and sorry big john you went through what I went through yesterday lol..

I can add to fishing on the 25th.

Looked at George St., Aikins Rd., and Oderdonks before deciding on the best (shortest) walk out. Went to the mouth of the Trent at 2:00 and set up 250 yards out in 15 ft or water. No slush on top and 16 " of good ice.

Fished in the wind and cold until dark without marking a fish.

Same for the neighbouring hut.

That's it for me this year folks. Good luck to all.

Thanks Maple, that was gonna be our original plan but a buddy told me that onders was somewhat hot. Either way would have ended up with same general result. Oh well, there's always next year. Lol. Cheers
