Just heard there is a truck through the ice at Pt. anne and will apparently remain there for a while. Fire/Rescue was out there also, apparently.

Anyone have any details as to where or the story behind it?

I figured it had to be the narrows.
Was there a pressure crack they tried to cross or???
There still must be over 12" of ice in the channel, given that there are trucks UP the trent river by freshco.

There's a lot of water running through that skinny section. I wouldn't make assumptions like that comparing trent river to narrows. Ice conditions are very unpredictable around these areas. This is why I drive a cheap sled out ice fishing lol

Just talked to a buddy who lives down that way......truck is thru straight out from Sandy cove towards Minnie blakley by the narrows. Only about 5 inches of ice he says there. Guys hut is likely going down with the truck as well. You cant fix stupid.....................

Sorry to hear he ended up in hospital. I was out taking sled for a boot from Belleville and stopped by rush bar and could see the truck. Looks like they drove out from pt Anne ruins and made it out to the middle of the channel before they went through. My son was born in the spring of 1994 and I remember how cold it was that winter. We had lots of -20 days and then in Feb had about4-5 days of -30. I drove my old ford aerostar van onto the ice at George St and drove it on the ice all the way over to pt Anne. Young and naive. I wouldnt dream of doing that now even if we had a repeat of that winter. Not sure how they are going to get that truck off the ice.

I remember that year Dan. I drove my full size GMC van out to the middle of Big Bay a lot, also remember seeing several other vehicles out there, so I didn't even thing twice. Don't think my onions are as big now as they were then.
