Well, boys and girls, it's been a long time since we had the boat in the water, Nov 17th to be exact, so after5 months and three weeks, we launched at Wellington on Sunday around 10AM.
We decided not to make the ling run past West Point for Athol Bay as we had seen the ice covering the beach and wouldn't be able to fish the shallows like we wanted to.
Trolling westward to Hycks Point, we were in 37 Deg water, until we had a problem with the bottom and the lure. We motored westward and found the water temp rising to 39 degs.
Turned and trolled downwind, which had diminished considerably and made the troll really nice.
Around 1245, the outer inside board fired and I saw a fish jump twice and GONE!!!!!!!!!
We were using a No 7 Flicker Minnow behind the board. That fish renewed our enthusiasm, but it was the only hit of the day. Fished til 3PM and headed to shore.
There were five trailers there when we launched, we didn't see anyone, so we assume they were past West Point.
With an extremely busy schedule on my part, any further expeditions to Lake O might be taken in May.
Only three weeks til the walleye opener.
Stay Tuned.
