Came across this last year ,although its from Manitoba....its layed out in an easy to read format, and if its accurate, it would possibly be somewhat similar to Ont.(think their climate gets a little colder through the winter months) I won't vouch for its accuracy, as its not very scientific, but it does lay out some basics . I'm interested to see what points are disputed, as it lays a few things out there, which some may totally disagree with!

PM West Lake Willows. I'm sure he posted a growth chart a while ago. Or just search his posts. Dave

If memory serves me right. That chart is generated from tagging data on bay of Quinte. It is just the avg weight/length of the recaptured fish of the specific age. There was just a lower avg weight in the 11 year old sample. It is not a chart of one fish over 20 years.

So they tagged fish at early ages and collect starting data. Then get the data when it is recaptured and they know how old it is and how much it has grown.

Here are the results from a tag I caught a few years ago.

I caught this fish on May 11 2012 at thompsons pt.

The fish was 25.125" 5 lb 3 oz walleye with MNR tag 00259.

Tag 00259

Date Tagged: October 20, 1998

Location: Ram Island (Hay Bay)

Mark: 732 nodule mark on dorsal fin

Fork Length: 403 mm (this would be about 17 inches total length)

It's very interesting data. I would never have thought a 5lb 25" walleye was 15 or 16 years old (it was tagged in 98 at 17")

That fish is one that would have significantly dragged down the avg weight of the 14 year old sample.
