A local club the Quinte Bass Anglers Has been running a fun Family based ,hourly prizes Tournament For the past 4 years ( Quinte Bass Champs ) and has grown in popularity to the point of bringing in 186 teams (372 people) !!
there will be all said and done roughly 500 people ,Organizers ,Sponsors, Volunteers, not including there families, fans and spectators !!!
It has grown to be the biggest tournament ever in Ontario and maybe Canada
That means 200 boats on the water, each team pay for gas and accommodations in Belleville ,purchases from local sport shops, grocery stores, restaurants, etc , again not including the Sponsors , Volunteer's, Family, and Organisers (which also spend there money in Belleville )
They also have to rent the boat ramp off the City for this tournament !!!
So thank you Belleville Intelligencer and the City of Belleville
for all your non existent input into one of the Biggest Events to hit your so called Belleville Water Front

Enough said
Thanks and please check out
The Quinte Bass Anglers
and Quinte Bass Champs

Maybe they have to be notified before they can give any advertisement.

this was our firat time fishing the bass champs had a great time hope to return next year and i agree with shelly you would think even the radio stations would pick up on the tournament if they posted the standings every so often people who were listening would also here the sponsors messages on the station i would think by not doing this they are loosing possible revenue for the sponsors. if the papers got more involved it would show just how many people come to this event and use the ramps and other merchantsin the area around the bay possibly then more money would be spent on fixing the boat launches around the area of the bayof quinte so many anglers say some ramps are terrible to use and have no parking. hope to return next year and hear the newspapers and radio stations have picked up on this

Big event, congrats to the volunteers.
At no place in the above rant does it mention that someone contacted the papers and they failed to cover the story. Did someone send a notice or are papers and radio stations expected to be everywhere and know everything ????
I certainly hope the papers never failed to cover such a big event if notified.
I helped with fishing events some years ago and we had a volunteer in charge of spreading the word to fishing personnel to raise our participation number and also to raise public awareness. You certainly have the numbers but maybe next year a person could be challenged to get radio station and newspapers on board... Even seen some of these events shown on the fishing shows... Just my rant
Cheers Rob

David that's not what Shelly is referring to. That was though a big win for Curtis Richardson, and should have also received some acknowledgement. Not to many Canadian anglers have had success fishing tournaments down south. Good for him!
