Fished Hay Bay again last night and only came up with one dirty little pike on Tylercurts line. The Bay is broken. Used to be such a nice little bay. U guys that claim ownership should get out the elbow grease and get this situ fixed up. Next time I go out I would like to be catching not just fishing. Rant over, have a good one.
Cheers Rob

The fish aren't bitin. Picked up 5 lber after a lot of weedbed crankin. Minnows everywhere in the water. The 5 lber spit up a bunch of half digested baitfish. Hoping it turns around soon

If they r there they r some picky about what they r eating. Changed up bait, speed and come up empty, this has been going on for awhile. On the bright side I have some of the cleanest spoons and cranks I have ever owned.
Cheers Rob

A good friend of mine has a cottage on Hay bay, and he says he is catching a lot of big pike and some real nice bass lately. He has won a few Quite series events the last couple of years.

Just my opinion, but I think this time of year when the water is warming up, pickerel think that they are bass and move into the weeds. As Dan mentioned, the fish are there, and they are obviously feeding (spitting up baitfish) Time to put the trolling gear away. Set those rods and reels up with braided line, shallow to mid depth crankbaits, and bucktail jigs and head into the weeds. You may be surprised!!!! If trolling is the only option, I'd say look for the deepest water in the area and see what the fishfinder has to say.

Last summer by mid late july the eyes put on the feedback by the church for a few weeks and some biggies were in there including a 8lber my neighbor at the park caught on a harness trolling right in and on the weedline. I couldnt believe it as at the park we have a summer long big fish derby and up till he caught that fish i was leading with a fish just under 8 and i thought it would stand.

Hey Dan, no doubt trolling a weedline will produce fish, but it can be very frustrating when you get in too close and spend more time cleaning weeds off your line than actually fishing. I just feel that there are different techniques that are just as productive (somewhat weedless) where your lure is in the water more than it is out.

To fish those weeds and fish em shallow, try using a bullet sinker and the sinker will get most of the weeds.

When you feel the weight, try raising your rod tip and with a bullet sinker, they weight will slde up the weed and not foul.

The walleye are all full from gorging on the Alwifes along the shores. Hard to compete with a buffet of minnows swimming by every few minutes. Heard the same story about fish regurgitating Alwifes from the few I talked to that got a walleye over the past few weeks. Right before the Alwifes came in the bite was crazy. 14 fish during my 5 times out in June, 5 between 3 and 5lbs and the rest between 7 and 11lbs plus one pig by far my PB. Not sure what she weighed as I got her back in the water ASAP but was around 35".

2 weeks ago tonight I was fishing off my dock with a very small lure that looks like a smelt and I caught 6 shad about 6-7 inches long and they bit the lure and were not snagged. They were also jumping and flipping all over the place. Hard catching anything when there around.

I was trolling the other evening around 1700hrs and marked a HUGE school of fish in the deep hole across from Blakewoods and I trolled back and forth on the line for four passes.

Heard a fish come out of the water and thought perhaps a bass feeding on the surface and kept trolling.

On the next pass back up the line, I saw a fish just come to the surface and briefly surface, it was a big fish over two feet and it was gold........

I was fishing a large school of carp.............D'oh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No takers tried five lures
