Went down last night for few hours with no luck! It was stinking hot and the only bites i was getting was from the damn mosquito's...Man they were bad!

Last week the boats were trolling right at mouth of river, almost in the coves beside break walls. Last night they dropped back out likely close to a km. I'm assuming with the hot weather we've had the past few days the fish are going deaper and will once again come back in after a little cool down and/or a good rain!

Heard they were hitting in about 40 fow last week and back out to 80 fow now!

I'm ok with the warm weather though...back out to Rice for some bass!! Whoohoo!

Salmon are finally starting to make their way up river. This weeks rain will certainly speed things up too i'm sure.

Goldfinder,
If your making the trip ya may want to plan it for this week or next? I'm guessing with the late run it's gonna be a fast one...but who knows?

Cheers!!

From shore? Your only option is the channel or breakwall.

Well it's official the town council has directed the parks department to contact the proper authorities for direction on what Port Hope's options are going forward to protect the fall Salmon fishery and the towns natural resources. They will be exploring the possibility of incorporating a Municipal Fishing License, closing town properties to prohibit all salmon fishing in problem areas, and expanding the current fish sanctuary areas on the Ganaraska River. This is due in large to this weekends fishing conduct. Fish heads dumped in portable bathrooms, garbage and waste left all over, blatant disregard of laws with blatant snagging and over harvesting among other things. The Town officials are listening to the multiple calls to action and although it may be too late to fix the situation this year our council and mayor are committed to ensuring this is the last year we see this type of conduct in Port Hope

At least the town is doing something about it. Not sure how they are going to enforce this but I wish them all the best. Don't post this stuff on spoonpullers or the idiots shoot people down for asking about salmon runs.

Yeah, it's a frigging zoo down there when they start to run!
I don't even like going to watch as i lose my s**t when you see all these guy's trying to hook a salmon. There's to many idiots down there that have absolutely no respect for the fish. Poeple are actually forming a line across the river and fishing the rapids.
As i've said before, i live in Port Hope and see this every year where people are snagging, netting, over limits, etc. At the end of the month when the river closes for the season I see people fishing up river almost every day. It drives the wife nuts because i gotta stop and kick them out of the water each time i see someone, lol! Most play dumb and say they didn't know, or they say they can't understand english and don't know what i'm saying!

Sorry for my rant, I could go on but better whoa up there!

The walleye bite will be on anyhow so i'll be out on the lake!

Cheers!
