Anyone heading out this Sunday? Im a little concerned about the winds. Not sure if its worth the trip from Hamilton. We will be in a 24' Bayliner. but it will be my first time going out in this boat. Any thoughts?

Environment Canada has a Strong Wind Warning in effect for most of Southern Ontario in the Marine forecasts up until Saturday night for now. I know there was a tournament on Lake Simcoe that got cancelled this weekend due to the high winds. Not sure about Sunday though.

Seems the worst of the winds will go thru Saturday overnight. Hopefully its right and not late which would mean Sunday morning. Not the best conditions to try out a new to you boat.

I would say it all depends on where you want to fish. If a strong south wind fish the river at Trenton, or the bay close to Picton. See where the wind is coming from ad find a boat launch that will be you on the leeward side.
Deseronto might work for you too. Just have to cross the open to get to the Reach.

Regards

Not likely a great day for a shake down on your first outing. I'd stay away from that launch in Desoronto as well with a boat that big as I suspect the water levels are down to the winter levels as well. Unless they've dredged out and fixed up the bottom of the ramp with the crazy drop off.

Thanks for the replies guys. It might be wise to wait for another weekend. I think the best place to launch that boat would be right in Picton Harbour. I was planning on starting around the batcave and troll east. Man....new to me boat I'm itching to try and every weekend hasn't been working for me

15 to 20k west afternoon winds in a 24 foot boat??? Sounds fantastic! If your worried, your not ready for late fall fishing on the Bay of Quinte, Put it away and start fresh next spring. You need confidence in your equipment as well as your abilities to fish this time of the year. This is not the time of the year for beginners.Safety first. I fish out of a 12ft kayak and will be out Sunday afternoon unless the forecast changes.

I've only fished Quinte for about 13 years in the winter. I'm a confident kinda guy. Just asking about winds.
