Three of us, one boat, tried the mid-summer walleye fishing hoping to scrounge enough fillets for at least one good walleye fry and ended up with one of the best trips ever. The weather was really hot and only once did we see more than one other boat fishing. For 3 days we caught 25 walleyes, releasing 3 under 15 inches and one over 19 inches, and took 4 apiece home. We had 2 fabulous fish fries with 9 fish. All fish were caught on spinner/worm rigs. The hotspots were just outside weedbeds in 15 to 17 ft depths in the vicinity of the Hay Bay Church and Sherman's point.
At customs they told us it was highly recommended to carry 2 sources of identification. A driver's license with picture and a birth certificate. They said only the driver's license was required now but that may change shortly. Plan for extra time there because it is much more thorough than in the past.
