With the recent weather just had to get out bassin again. I had already taken the boat and dock out so we went for a change of scenery and fished Wellers bay.The winds were calm and water temp was 49 then peaked at 53 on north side of the lake and 52 on south side. We fished pretty much everything as far as depth and bottom, rock, weed, sand or combination of. The only fish caught was a nice 4plus pound smallmouth on a extremely slow rolling spinnerbait. The fish was caught in 7 feet of water on the north side of the lake in a depression on the rock flat we call the trough. I also lost two others with the same presentation in this area. Our saying this time of year is, if you think your fishing too slow , slow down! With the new reels and the increased speeds in retrieval, for and old timer like me I like to go back to my old Abu 5500 series 5.3:1 retrieve reels. That might be the last time bassin this year, but might not!
