Any predictions on the date of first safe ice this year, looking like it may be a slow start to winter

First fishable ice, meaning 3+ solid inches let's say at huffs. I'd say around Jan 5

I've been itching to get my ice gear out and out onto the ice. So let's hope early January. Already have seen some ice on rice lake, nothing to support any weight unless you were maybe a hummingbird, but the temps are dropping.

January 15th and it absolutely kills me to put it at that late in the season but El Niño is going to kill us ice anglers this season :(

Looking at the long term forecast my guess is we won't be ice fishing the bay until mid January if we're lucky.. mean el nino .Get those Christmas lights on the boat boys and gals.
