So, tonight I got the chance to finally use my new knife I got for Xmas. I am not impressed. Maybe it's just me but there really does not seem to be a whole lot of power to drive the blades. It was "stalling" while I was trying to use it. I was thinking there was some speed settings on it but none. I tried to let the blades do the work, but still, not enough speed to move the blades. When you press the button you would think it would just take off and go, but it hesitates then slowly starts up. The one I have is both 110v and 12v. Anyone else have the same problem? Before I go buy another one to see if it is defective, was hoping to get some input from here. Unfortunately no receipt so can't take it back.

I have exact same issue. I have used one on 12v and it was flawless. I'm wondering if it's something to do with the voltage converter it comes with. I haven't had the chance to use mine 12v yet to test that theory.

First time I used mine it couldn't slab a crappie fillet. I could use a butter knife more effectively than it.

I have the 110v only model and it seems to work good.

It shouldn't do that. Probably an issue with a connection somewhere. Like where the knife plugs into the cord for power.

It sounds like the 110v knife is the better. I got looking at mine more today and I didn't realize that even though it plugged into a normal outlet, it's still only a 12v. The adapter converts the 110v to 12v. I was thinking once you plug it in to a wall socket, it's automatically 110v. The white booklet included in the kit sort of explained this. Most people call them instructions, I call it fire starters. It's still not powerful enough to my liking. Maybe on a trout or a bass, but not on a 4 lb walleye. Think I'll keep this one for shore lunches on a back Lake and purchase the real 110v knife.

Thanks for your inputs!
Good luck on the hard water!

iv used a mister twister electric fillet knife for the past 5 seasons and never had a problem with it, it retails for 30 bucks at bass pro and comes on sale often. you guys probably already know but just encase- never let your fish freeze and then try to fillet them, it happened to me once and it was a real pain in the ass.

I have tried the mister twister as well as the rapala electric knives. Both are decent but I prefer the Berkley

Try putting a bit of vegetable oil between the blades it may help it from sticking.
