Well the weather network said it would be cool, but low winds and that's the key to our fishing.

Hit the road at 0630 to have a look along Highway 33, Finkles was fine, Adolphus Park was iced in and the ferry was iced in, although clear where the ferry moves the ice.

Decision made: Lake Trout from Finkles.

Picked up the boat, picked up the gear and headed to Finkles, Loaded the boat, launched and headed over to Amherst Is, the wind was blowing from the NE and was kicking up 3 footers. Started at 1015 and made one downwind pass and decided that it might be better to fish in the lee.....

Over to the lee, where it was peaceful and serene and we could run four rods.

Watched the construction and were amazed at the size of the project, when the lead core inside board fired, Great Words " FISH ON " Another strike on the Shoe-Horn Spoon.

Brought the board to the board and the three colours and we saw it, funny looking laker, it's got a square tail.....

John slipped the net and she was ours - What a Beauty - It's HUGE!!!!!!! Got the scales, tried to control the beast, rec'd two cut fingers and I was bleeding a ton.

Can anyone guess where we are

Pictures and a weight and she went back. Well, we're not skunked!!!!!!

Reset the rod and went about 10 mins and the outside board fired, another fish on!!!!!!

Cleared the inside board, John brought the board in and cleared it, I saw the fish roll behind the board, suspected Brownie!

I netted the fish and HE was a brown trout, tipping the scales at 5lbs. A nice fish for the table. Fish took a Green Flicker Minnow - Great lure for Eyes, Lakers and now Browns

Everybody is Happy - Happy - Happy.....

As we continued our troll, the winds dies and it calmed off and it was Beautiful - what a great day in February.

Trolled back to Finkles without any other hits..

Landed about 3:15PM. Took the boat back and dropped off the gear.

Quite a day, we thought you only get Browns in March or April - Guess again.

There were three other trailers at Finkles and they were there when we left - we think they were chasing walleyes up the reach by the BatCave.

It isn't gonna freeze so keep the rods and boats ready.

Stay Tuned

David aka Superdad

Congratulations. The last time I drove bye that area it was skimmed over with ice. That is a beautiful brown. I think I may be cutting my grass this weekend. BATMAN
