I've never fished for Browns before but it sounds like they are shallow and close to shore which is ideal for me being in a 16'6 boat. I would like to give it try this spring somewhere between Newcastle and Oshawa. Just looking for some general info like trolling speed, location and water depths. What would be the min/max depth? I'm assuming I could just use my walleye trolling gear. Rods, reels, in-line boards etc... I'm not taking this too serious, but would just like to get out on the water before walleye opens in May. I'm also aware that the wind speed and direction is a huge factor on whether I venture out or not.

Thanks.

Back in the 80s our favorite 2 places for browns were the Pickering Nuke plant and in front of Oshawa harbour. Do not know about now, but can't see why they wouldn't still be good locations,

Thanks for the help guys. It's a good starting point for me if I can make it out. Any guesses on trolling speeds and depths??

Thanks.

Body baits 1.9 to 2.5, 4 to 12 fow now. move out deeper in another 3 weeks.

Spoons - I don't run a lot until later but 8 to 18 fow and 2.4 to 2.8 mph. On certain days if things are not working don't be afraid to kick it up a notch, 2.8 to 3.4 mph. But you will need spoons to kick at that speed.
