Hey all, I'm heading up to Wellington this weekend to pick up a new to me boat and was thinking of hitting Athol Bay on Saturday for some Browns. Just wondering if anyone has been out at all lately and if they're around the bay or if I should run to Scotch Bonnet looking for Lakers?

I haven't been out lately, but was thinking tonight, these heavy west winds may have blown some warmer water into the bay. It has been a terrible spring with all the north and east winds. We really needed these westerly winds to get the bite going. Good luck on your decision, personally I'd be going for Browns

The south shore was 51 degrees this past weekend...still excellent temps for browns...

I'm assuming the north shore, where you guys are, will have temps in the mid 40's?

Looks like there is some nice green water on the south side of salmon point on the MODIS imagery from today. Likely from all the East winds pounding on it.

Weather was great but couldn't get the Browns to cooperate. Water ranged from 50 - 57 in the bay.

No problem :) sorry I wasn't able to report on catches. :) boat is new to me and the kicker has trouble staying at low speeds so I've got lots of built in excuses. ;)
