Wendover fishing derby - Febuary 5th

Wendover's Night of Columbus fishing derby.

Saturday February 5th. From 0600 to 1800 hrs. Registration ends at 12:00 at Pete's Minnows near the Wendover docks the day of the derby. Cost is $15 a ticket which includes a home made spagetti supper and $7 just for supper. Prizes also for all kids 12 and under who participate. Kids fish for free.

Tickets may be purchased in advance at Pete's Minnow Shack (Wendover Boat Launch) or Viau garage in Wendover. They can also be purchased from Gilbert Harrigan at 673-2639 (Gill@fishingbuddies.ca) or Pierre Sauve at 673-5576. All info available through these people.


Prizes are as follows:

Biggest fish of the day... This fish does not count in it's category.
3 biggest walleye,
3 biggest pike,
biggest sauger,
biggest perch
biggest crappie.
Money prizes will be awarded to these winners and gifts will be drawn for participants holding a ticket. The tournament limits are from the "Fer-a-cheval bay" to the "Bay of Windsor" This is basically from one end of Wendover to the other. To register a fish, the weigh in station will be at pete's minnow shack. After that, you have until 1800 hrs to weigh at the Community center which will hold the rest of the evening. Fish must be live.

sound like interesting, can you provide us the direction to go there, we just familiar for Trenton area, don't know the place you mentioned!

It's a bit a ways from Trenton. But here you go. It's about 40 minutes east of Ottawa. A small village by the river. The fishing is amazing. Pike, Walleye, Crappie, perch, sauger and all...You just follow Hwy 174. Can't miss it. Would be nice to have some guys from your area...Hey, maybe even superdad and the gang.
