As the title explains, I was given some fishing gear and this came in the package. I have no idea what this thing is or what it does but I think it's for fly fishing and its been sitting on the top of my fridge for about five years....

Ok, thanks David and Walleye 9, I've obviously seen a fly reel before but not one like this style. Maybe one of these days I'll try it out!

It appears to be an automatic fly reel. They were popular at one time, many years ago and were even to a small degree, made by Inglis in Toronto at one point.
