Lake Erie guy going to make a trek.

Hey Guys
I fish for eyes out of Port Maitland all summer and I hear a tonne about the quite fishery. I have a 18' Legend and use 2 down riggers and 2 dipseys in my spread. I also have the tx 44 planer boards if needed. All we use up there are worm harnesses. I see on my avionics that the bay of quinte in spots can reach 90 + feet deep. I have no idea where to start (launch out of) and where the depths to start would be. I've been doing my research as far as baits go and it seems the scatter rap is a go to bait. Any help or advice would be great. Looking to make a trek up next Saturday. is picton the place to go?

Pro tackle and Scott Walcott from West lake a willows and owned the harbour inn just did some seminars on this and I believe they have posted them.
Crank baits td11 reef runners same colours as Erie purples and greens. Stay above 30 feet and fish some high lures.
Picton has a good launch and not far to go to get past the ferry where you can run two rods per angler

How long are you staying?

just going up for the day leaving maitland around 3 am should be there around 6:30 am. I watched his webinar and thats where I heard about the scatter rap. should I stay in 30 fow and fish higher or go deeper and fish 30' and up?

It's early yet for the big girls. You can target 2-7lbers in picton Bay Area though. The fish move in to boq as the water temps drop and currently temps are still in the low to mid 60's. 40-50 temps is where you start to see more fish stacking up.

Picton ramp is great and sheltered or also glenora ferry ramp is good and closer to fishing the deeper water in Adolphus reach. Glenora ramp is located on the east side of the ferry.

so it's too early still to head out to adolphus reach? i was looking to head out to the big water for the "big girls" not looking to plate any just looking for some good action.

You could get lucky but i personally wouldn't be fishing the yet. We are still getting them out on the lake outside of quinte.

ok when do you suggest? I'll make plans on maybe staying down the whole weekend.

Usually starts getting good by mid nov but most would say the later the better.

I would agree the later the better. I am about 3 hours East of Quinte and usually don't consider making a trip until mid-November, at least for the last 5 or 6 years.

if your planning on going in nov. you might want to start on a place to stay now they book up early we are going for 4 days the 25 weekend of nov. coming from Cambridge.
