I just read that too. 5.5 billion dollar deal. My guess is that the smaller Cabela's stores will close and the remaining ones eventually rebranded

Sounds like they will operate as independent brands for the foreseeable future. In Canada I see no reason they can't coexist. There aren't enough of either to canabalize off each other.

They mentioned that both rewards programs would remain intact in each of the brands.

Bad thing overall. Less competing and less choice.
I personally prefer cabelas over bass pro. Too bad. We also lost Lebarons. ...
