Hi there.
I have been a member here for awhile and a long time lurker. :-)

I am planning my first trip down for some fishing in the very near future (coming from the Smiths Falls/Carleton Place area) and wondering what the launch is like at Sherman's Point or are there any good alternatives close to it. If there is a better location you can recommend .. by all means please do! A concern I have is if it is not well travelled and someone vandalizes my truck or trailer while I am out. There has been some reports in the Ottawa region of this type of stuff in the "out the way" launches.

I am not looking for your honey holes or what is working .. but I will take any advice you feel like sharing.
I have a Lund 1750 fisherman. So a deeper launch is easier to get the boat off the trailer.

Any help, guidance or information you can provide would be appreciated.

Thanks!!
Bill

Bill it depends where you're planning on fishing. There is a great launch at Glenora ferry or also deseronto. Deseronto is likely closer for u as it's closer to the 401 and only a 10 minute boat ride down to Sherman's area.

I think it will be a trail by fire for fishing when I go.
My first time on the water way so it will be a lot of guess work for me in terms of locations and techniques.
I have read previous posts that fishing in Hay Bay and Sherman's Point seem to be good starting points so I will try there.
It is good to know it is not that far of a ride from Deseronto to that area. Any idea what the launch fee is in Deseronto so I can bring exact change.

Thanks for the tips.

I was at Deseronto a couple days ago, there was no one around and no drop box for a launch fee. The water is low and there is a drop at the end of the launch so use care when pulling out. Shermans is good as well and I use it a lot and have no issues there with my truck and trailer there...
