Laker John and I were fishing with an old friend and a Quinte Walleye fisher for over 25 years, our friend Neil asked us out and we were able to take advantage of great November weather.

That being said, the rest was just washing lures.

The water temp in Adolphus Reach was 53 Degs F - THAT'S A WAY TO WARM.........

We fished from 1000 -1500 and never had a hit, saw a net. We marked a 'few' balls of baitfish, and a very few marks on the graph.

The fish are not there................ They must be still out in the lake.

We analyzed the situation and tried to figure what has happened to the walleye fishery.

Since the mid 2000's the fishery has been on a slide. Sure fish have been taken since 2010 but in the last three years, we've been skunked in areas that produced many large fish and today, they aren't there.

We talked about the weather and water temps, only five - six years ago, water was in the 30's, air temps had motors freezing and look at it now. The prime walleye fishing periods have turned into days of washing lures.

With all the doom and gloom of poor November fishing, let's be positive.

Only 3 - 4 years ago, the fishing was great in Dec, Jan and even Feb. - Perhaps this will be the new norm. Quinte Winter Walleye Season!!!!!!!!!!!

Just the thoughts of three guys in a boat for four hours watching planer boards and the graph.

Any thoughts from the board??

Stay Tuned - Laker John's boat is still ready and waiting to go.

The fishing is certainly up and down but there are lots of fish in the system and we have been doing ok. Here are a few graph shots from yesterday and today. There are areas where the fish are stacked.

Nice to see shots like that, that would restore some of our lost confidence.

Global warming is here and is changing the fish and game instinct and survival habits. Fishing in the Bay of Quinte for world class walleyes in November has been great and now it is OK! This summer I was with a marine biologist in Alaska and he gave me a 101 lesson in the changes that they are seeing in Alaska with their fish and game. Right now the melt down with the polar caps the polar vortex/jet streams have and will take over and control our weather. One year it could be very cold and next year warm. This December could be a great time to fish! The fish are in the system but the system is changing. The good news is the fish will tell us when it's time! Good luck to all the fishermen!

Hey Scott I think there's something wrong with your Simrad FF. It's marking these black blobs in lower left corner of the screen lol

Just a thought  :
It may be important to point out that during these transitional periods it may be necessary to find locations where the thermocline is still established and target that depth.
You can see in the images provided where in the column it is and the fish are congregating there. This has always been my experience anyway. I generally fish just above what I believe to be this line and fair well.
Just my .02

Good luck.

I've taken the hint! I'm too old for -10, sleet, snow, wind! Boat out, railway out, dock out! Enjoy you hard liners, see you in May!

It's still too early! I could never really start catching fish til the water temperatures dropped below 45F. It would be a very late season this year. Normally by this time of year, the fishing is full on.

I'm still around - boatless, but available. Kind of a self-unemployed dirtbag. If anyone with a boat is looking for a fishing partner [me] who has his own rods and lures and planer boards and snap weights and Mustang Suit and stuff, I'd love to join you in your boat fishing most anytime. Will of course pay my share of gas and beer! Can get out at short notice, including on weekdays.

Cheers, eh?
Pete

^^This would most assuredly be considered trolling!

Many times when the water is calm or when there is a lot of boat pressure the fish seem to drop down very deep in Adolphus reach. You can catch some of them with riggers but they will die for sure with their air bladder hanging out of their mouth. A buddy caught some 150 ft down !
