It's always been the first Saturday in May De-Prop. So it must be the 7th
where are you boys going to hang your hat for the opener?

My hat will be in Algonquin Park, this will be the first time in about 20 years that I haven't fished BOQ May opener. No walleye caught in the last 3 years and the water only seems to get more crowded so I'm heading to an interior lake to try and get some speckles. The following week I'll be fishing BOQ with no crowds.

Based on the posts, I always question why people head out to the Bay for opener? My friends and I have abandoned it since we typically get 1 fish for 4 people. Sure, large fish exist but if it takes forever to catch a fish, I'm all game for the 2 1/2lb'ers we catch a bit closer to home.

Anyone ever catch 50 pickerel in less than 3 hours fishing? Smallest fish was 1 1/2lbs - largest 4 lbs - ave. 2 1/2 lbs. Can't beat that regardless what size it is.....I guess I'm not as patient as some others are. I want to have fun and not sit in a boat waiting for a hit for 3 - 6hrs and waste $100 in gas for nothing.
