What's the best heat source for a permanent hut

On our permanent huts. We use like a Coleman 2 burner stove. With a 6' propane hose coming off of it. And hook up to a 20lb tank outside

is that safe? what about Carbon monoxide? Will make you sleepy, give you a nasty headache but even worse, it can kill you..

Id suggest a buddy heater or a big buddy (depending on size of hut) hooked up to a tank. the buddy heaters don't have a carbon monoxide detection as some people think but do have a low oxygen shut off feature. in a shed style hut it might be a good idea to have a battery powered carbon monoxide detector. i find even in my pop up with a roof vent i get a headache if i'm in it with my buddy heater running to long.

Both a Coleman stove and buddy are very dangerous while sleeping in a hut, even with a carbon monoxide detector the amount that can kill you over 10 hours will often not even set off a detector. Look into what's called a vented propane heater, 100% safe no emissions. They are 600$ plus

Certainly not making light of safety, but coleman stoves on 20lb tanks have be used for years. Don't recall anyone dying and the headaches came from drinking.

We use to cook our fish as well as heat the shack.

The problem with spending money on any sort of a permanent heating system is no doubt someone will steal it.

We never left anything in a shack that we weren't prepared to lose.

I use a Buddy heater and have some outside air coming in the shack.

If your sleeping in a shack you might want to do something different.

Yes. Even with the Coleman stove we always cook. Have a window cracked open to vent a couple actually. But if looking to sleep in and someone that possibly won't steal it. Go with a small wood stove. Yes there can be a royal pain because of having to make sure you have wood there. they may take a couple more minutes to bring heat into your shack. But once they are going they are a good heat source. Great to cook on. And can ventilate the smoke out and away.

I rented out my sleeper huts and used Buddy heaters and never had a problem. They are built for indoor and outdoor use.
We used to use a woodstove and at night would put a propane burner inside the stove so that we didn't have to keep putting wood in all night and it would vent to the outside.
