Hey everyone.

I have a friend who wants to take his 2 kids out ice fishing. They are 7 and 9 yrs old. The father is not much into fishing so I offered to help and suggested to take them out.
Lake Simcoe is just too far of a drive and I was wondering if there is a decent place to get these kids into some action.

They live in the Cobourg area.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers!

Potters Creek here on the BOQ has been quite the perch factory and is a lot closer then Simcoe. Small baits will do the trick, if fishing is slow add a minnow head to a small to midsize jigging rap or a tingler, micro jigs with plastic should also work well.

I second that! Ben at bj tackle is always great to deal with! You can call ahead and they will help as best they can. Last I checked the ice was 5" and people were out for morning bite. That was a few days ago so I'd hope it would only be better!

I'm in cobourg and hit up rice with the kids often. Lots of perch off of gores landing and ice is ok. Also look at rice near roseneath for bluegill for them. Like others said crappie at night can be great in bewdley

I live 5 mins away down Montrose. What is this place like? What about parking and access to the ice? Lots of people?

I'm new to ice fishing and was also looking for a place I can bring the kids for a few hours. Just wondering what to expect.

Parking lot across from the Moira Con. office, walk out from the lot, presently ice is good but always be careful and check for yourself, many fisher people during the weekend and normally a few during the week.

Thanks for the pointers guys. I think I will hit up Bewdley and give it a go with them. It's close to home and hope there is enough fish to keep them interested.

Cheers!
