If you are not familiar with the ice on the bay watch your step. Fished on 9"s of ice and 2"s of water for today. 9"s of ice sounds great and is safe BUT watch your walking, tonight coming back to shore I found numerous amounts of open swirl holes and water cycling through on both holes and ice cracks. Be safe remember the saying is "an eye for an eye" and not a "fish for a life"

Thank you for the heads up!
Sounds like I will keep the spud handy this weekend.

You'll definitely need a spud this weekend after what I watched happen on West Lake yesterday.
Pressure cracks open up to 2 or 3 feet wide in some places.

Should I bring casting or trolling rods?

That's scary stuff, I was camped out by one one morning on quinte and had that too. The noise alone was scary and theN Seeing the crack open up get wider...
Luckily I didn't cross it that morning.
