The weather report clearly said, the sun would appear and burn off the fog that settled over the Bay of Quinte and most of Eastern Ontario.

THEY LIED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Laker John & I headed to Hay Bay for some fishing, Sure was foggy as we drove out after picking up the bait in Battersea, "No problem said John, it'll burn off"

Picked up the gear from the trailer and headed to Shermans Launch to park and head out to our spot that we had last week. This is out on Long Reach - a 30 minute walk.

Following the ATV & Snow Machine tracks, we headed west keeping the outline of the north shore on our right. HEY, there's the Red Buoy, now we head southwest - Sure is Foggy....

We wandered in what we thought was SW but Hey there's another Buoy!!!!, what one is that???? Investigation showed that it was Q8, Shermans Pt marker, looks like we going in a circle. Where's the west shore?? You could barely make out the high bluffs thru the fog, but the road traffic noise helped us.

We thought we close to where we wanted to go - the fog eased and we could see we were close to Grandfather Cove and needed to be further south. Pack the chairs and head south.

Found the spot and planted our selves, drilled the holes - No Problem. It only took us two hours to get to the right spot.

Here's what we were seeing a view from Long Reach back towards Hay Bay.

Everyone uses the Cement Plant as a reference here's what we could see looking southwest:

There were others out on the ice, but not the number of fishers we thought that would be there on Saturday.

We were fishing away and Laker John says " Fish ON". SWEET.... I was able to grab the gill plate as he brought the head up in the hole. NICE FISH.

Five minutes after that fish was released, He had another hit but this one got off. Boy - have we got the spot, getting ready for some fun fishing and MAYBE I could get a walleye

There was a lull in the action - as there wasn't any action til we left at 1630 and headed back to shore. That was the day all wrapped up in ten minutes - That's fishing

The walk to Shermans Launch ramp was simple follow an ATV track east and finally we found the north shore and some anglers just out in front of the ramp. Easy 30 minute saunter.

We had an escapade and we had fun fishing. Sure am Glad we can recognize the terrain, although the fog sure makes EVERYTHING look the same.

Stay Tuned, we're headed back out on Monday if the Fish Gods are willing.

By the way, if you haven't noticed - I didn't get a bite or a fish - Still the H. W. Virgin I'm gonna get that monkey off my back on Monday

once again we miss each other like you said two ships in the nite this time in the fog.fished shermans on friday not even a hit. decided to try huffs on sat. with no luck so when the guys from the min. came by and said they did not see a fish for the last two days and coming down with a bad case of the flu dicided to call it a weekend and head home.so if you heard a lot of coughing in the fog that was me.maybe see you in the spring this year with the new boat you will be easyer to spot.but dont give up the longer you go the bigger the pay back .
