This year was our first time entering the derby. First off, it was a lot of fun and everyone that participated was a winner. The conditions were rough, but luckily the wind wasn't too bad. Congrats to all who placed/won prizes. It was quite an experience. Will definitely be returning next year for the derby. The fishing wasn't easy. AT ALL. My brother in law managed to catch a nice 5lb-13oz walleye a few hours after the start of the walleye season. That would be the ONLY walleye in our boat all weekend. We managed to land 20-30 perch, but nothing of size. He also netted a nice northern pike but it wasn't worthy of the leaderboard. Oh well. We will be back in a few weeks (May 25-30) and hopefully the fish are biting. We need to rebound from a poor effort by myself and my father-in-law. Hope everyone has a great season and uses their nets a lot.
