Had some extra hours banked at work and with the low winds forecasted for tuesday took the day off and went to the lake. launched out of waupoos and headed out to timber/false ducks area. Started off with some quick bites in about the 25-35 ft depth but the bite slowed down. we ended the day with 21 fish but no monsters. biggest was a 4.6 and lost one that probably would of went over 5, judging by the line it was stripping, but it came unbuttoned. The fish are not schooled up and no real rhymn or reason to the bite. Deepest bite came out of 45ft and shallowest 14ft. Completely forgot to check the water temp. On our way back in stopped at the wall and a few dinks there. Noted the tufts Lab students out working. My guess would be that they were retrieving data from the acrostic telemetry receivers. Hoping to get a another trip or 2 out there but the darn winds this fall have been relentless.

Nice, thanks for the report Dan, are you locating fish on your electronics before you ever wet a line or are you just drifting though areas that should be holding fish this time of year. I assume your dragging tubes and drop shotting.

Have a look at your maps for the shoals. I use 1/2 and 3/4 oz goby heads jammed inside the tube, sometimes lighter.

Hi Dan we had a similar day out there with a few big northern as well. I was the blue gold ranger inside of you at the wall. You may remember meeting me years ago at Sean and Hedies no frills the day I picked her up in 2003. That’s a nice rig you boys were in. Hoping maybe one more kick at the can this week if we get a calm day. Cheers

Gord

Hey Jignpigman,
yes I remember you and saw you that day. How did you make out when you left the wall? We were out just this past monday again and the fish were still spotty. We got about a dozen fish between 3 guys and 6 hrs of fishn. We marked a ton in one area but could only entice a couple out of the school. There were so many on the screen at the same time I started to wonder if I was in simulator mode. It was discouraging. The darn wind has been brutal and by the looks of the long range it will be a few more weeks before I can get out again.

Hi Dan we did ok out there but to be honest I was trying to get my nephew into them so I wasn’t as hard core as I wanted to be. Tried to get out again this past Sunday but have been having some motor issues and spun the hub at the gap so that was the end of my day. My buddies ahead of me did ok with a couple over five and some nice siced gators. Boat is at the shop and going into hibernation. Might be time for a new G2 this spring especially with the limited time ten year warenty! So now it’s off to Saskatchewan as I have a date with a big buck over the next two weeks. Keep going on them if the weather stays good. It’s going to get better!
