Apologies for 'hi-jacking' the Discussion Board' thread, but we feel the Folks at RadioWorld deserve it.

We've dealt with Lawren several times for info and purchases, but this time we needed a LOT of input on a tough decision related to a new boat package, bought from our Pals at J & P Marine in Belleville, Ont.

Over the past 21 years we've bought a bunch of boats and motors from them, always enjoying the service and interaction. This time the Smoker Craft Pro Angler 182xl was a Package Deal, including a Humminbird Helix 5 sonar/GPS unit.

For starters the 5" screen with split screen options was simply too small for 75 year old eyes, so we asked Lawren for suggestions. The first response came back with several options ranging from 7" to 10", and included additional info on the merits of each model.

However... we've ALWAYS been a Lowrance Fan, so after a few days mulling the choices, we sent another request for info on comparable Lowrance units. By this time a lot of firms would be wondering if they were wasting their time with a 'tire-kicker'? However, back came his response with a similar amount of information on the Lowrance line.

After a few more days mulling the decision, we opted for a Lowrance 9" unit currently on sale. Original price was around $1500 CAD, but it had been reduced to $950, and now was on sale for $750 until Nov. 30th. That made the decision pretty easy.

The day after purchasing the unit we emailed Lawren to say thanks, and learned he had gone to the trouble of checking whether the order had been processed, and when it would be shipped. (Not bad, huh?)

Enter Diane; with her email saying it was already shipped, and providing a tracking number. Last time we talked to Diane must be 10 years ago, while resolving problems about a defective unit we returned.

We sent back a quickie, saying: "Still there, huh?" Back came another friendly, positive response. It felt so much like "Old Home Week", we wanted to pass this along to everybody at "Quintefishing.Com".

Apologies again for sticking this in the "Discussion Board" link, but we thought you'd find it interesting. Only problem now is the long wait until The Opener in 2018!!~

Cheers, Wordpecker.
