Have 2 units on the boat and I'm considering using 1 for ice fishing . I realize i could piece meal battery, charger, gear bag , power and transducer cords but thats rather costly.
2 concerns are 1. Has anyone ever tried stuffing a 7 into the Lowrance ice pack made for 5" units($200) ? 2. The power consumption concerns . Any input is greatly appreciated.

i tried stuffing a hds gen 1 into the ice pack bag and wouldnt fit. One way to save power is to turn down screen brightness

I have Elite 3 and an Elite 4 . The 4 is about the largest that will fit.

Figured it would be a bit of a chore. Might just pick up the Striker4 portable bundle. For the amount of ice fishing i do it looks like a decent unit for price. Could even use it on my yaks. Appreciate the responses.

Also considering Garmin Striker 4....like the flasher option, price ,other features ect...little confused by the option of buying the other transducer options(which r expensive)(and is the basic, non portable unit just the same as the portable package, but without a bag?)......its $100 bucks cheaper....anyway its probably going on my inflatable pontoon boat very shortly.

Ive been looking at that model LD . Plug and play for under 250 bucks. And it will find your way back too. Might just be the ticket.
