What a beautiful weekend!

I headed down to the Bay of Quinte again on Saturday (Dec. 2nd). I picked up my boat and a buddy in Belleville and headed to Picton where we launched about 7:30 in the morning. The launch was busy and many empty trailers already. I figure this is probably one of the busiest weekends out on the bay for Fall fishing.

We went one for one in 8 hours of fishing and when we arrived back at the dock it sounded like most anglers caught fish although we didn't see any nets dipping into the water from other boats we were passing by throughout the day. I did hear from one fellow that it was the best weekend they had in Quinte in years although a couple boats at the ramp reported skunks. That's fishing i guess, right time, right place, right speed, right depths, right lure and a little luck.

So, We started trolling just east of the Ferry and worked out way towards the gap. About halfway between the lighthouse and the gap in the early afternoon we had a planner board trip and woohoo, the tug of war was on! We were in 90 feet of water on the north side of the channel. We had 150 feet of line out with a 3 ounce snap weight 50 feet infront of the lure. The Lure was a Rapala Red Tiger Deep Tail Dancer 11. We landed a 12 pound, 9 ounce Walleye which measured 31 1/2 inches and a 19 inch girth. A personal best for my friend Matt and a Personal best for the boat! This is only my second year Fall fishing in the Bay of Quinte. I think were doing okay so far and there was certainly a couple of happy guys in the boat on Saturday

Thanks for your comments. Weather permitting, I will be taking one last kick at the can this coming Saturday. The boat goes into storage on Sunday. It's been an awesome year on the water.

Cheers, Kevin
