How is the ice holding up

How is the ice holding up after this bit of warm spell with the rain and winds has it changed much since Sunday that was the last time i was out and was thinking of giving a go in the morning again off potters. Thanks any info with help

Will be exactly 24hours of above zero temps as of 1am, according to my weather app that's what time this morning the temps were above zero. Rain will have nocked the snow down and make it pretty slick on top but I wouldn't think. much was lost in thickness. Mind you from the reports it didn't sound super thick to begin with Temps drop again tonight, minus double digits again Wednesday over night as well, then the below zero trend seems to be back.

personally I think id wait, my first ice plan is for after boxing day. as long as the weather holds. You never know early season.

I also live 3 hours away so don't want to waste the drive.

I decided not to go yesterday with the wind and the mild temp.
There was about 4 inches of good ice courtesy of the unusually cold weather. I don't know if the water had a chance to cool down enough to actually hold the ice without the cold making it. I don't even know if that's possible.
The day of mild temp's, which wouldn't have much of an effect on older ice, might put more of a dent on the new ice.

I'm going to error on the side of caution and give it a few days to stiffen up.
There's going to be a good stretch of cold weather next week, so I'll probably wait til Boxing Day or the next day before I go back out.

When I do it'll be cleats and a spud.

I fished potters and Bayside the last couple days on anywhere from 3.5-6"s of ice between the 2 places. Potters yesterday morning I had 5.5"s where I was. When we came in off the ice around 11am there was an inch of water on the ice. We went and had lunch and showed up at bayside to go out around 1:30 yesterday aft. We made it out 50 yards and there was 4"s of penciled ice and then 10' further it was one wack of the spud and right threw 1" of ice. There was etleast 2"s of water on top
We turned around and went back over to potters where we had gone out of in the morning. We made it out 100yards or so on 5"s and then it was 2 wacks of the spud and right threw! All that water on top of the ice and the current underneath softened that ice right up yesterday! I would recommended giving it a couple days to harden back up. Good Luck

I was thinking of heading out to Potters tomorrow morning. Do you guys think the temps today and overnight will make it decent again? I will of course spud out carefully, plus I have a floater suit and picks. I'm anxious but don't want to push my luck lol.

I wouldn't. I don't think overnight is nearly enough. I'd wait at for least a couple of below freezing days.
