Quinte Fishing

First time there this coming Saturday, what can I expect in terms of walking distance? I expect a fishing village there, will just find a safe spot near the crowd...

20 min walk or less than a km will get you there. Don't know if you have the navionics app or not, I recommend it and it's fairly inexpensive and will give you the chance.to figure walking distances to areas you want to fish

There’s 5-6 permanent huts out (there was as of Tues) just head for those A lot of the snow on top was getting blown away with big exposed patches maybe wear ice cleats especially if your walking in or out in the dark

Fished there on wed evening. Short walk to mid channel. Really sucked dragging the two man hut. Should have brought the sled. Fishing was slow. I tried out the vexilar camera for first time and it was nice to see the perch ignoring my baits. The only bait that got them excited was a meegs tipped with a minnow. Good luck.

I sometimes use a camera also and have seen the same thing (inactive perch). I typically use slab raps, ultra light rippin raps, and Lindy jigging spoons, all tipped with a minnow head. What I found, for some reason, is that the inactive perch were much more turned on once I dropped the minnow head and used only the lures. Also instead of little nips at the dangling minnow head, it was full on strikes and proper hook sets.

The cameras are great for learning about behavior. I always have my flasher as well, for anything higher in the water column and in case I get frustrated trying to point the camera LOL.
