Fished there on Sunday afternoon and managed a couple small fish. The ice was interesting as on one spot I have 7" mostly black and at another hole 6" mostly white and there was one patch that had water on top. As I was approaching it I could see the surface water moving with each of my steps. I stopped immediately and checked the ice and found barely 3" white ice.

Thanks for the report Dan.
Especially mentioning the ice.
The freeze thaws really effect the ice at Huff's. Also patches of snow only a couple of inches deep can have a huge effect on the ice thickness.
Last time I was out was early January and the bare ice was 6 to 8 inches and under two inches of snow was two inches of ice.
Even moving north to south off Huff's can find big changes.
Last year I was checking the ice at Huff's. Straight out from the launch there's was ice. A hundred yards north or south was open water.
We should all be very careful at Huff's.

At Huffs as I write...slow day...very few marks on no takers...hopefully the afternoon picks up. Quite a few people on the ice. Windy...should have brought the clam vs the pop up.
