Hello. I'm new to ice fishing the BOQ and I was wondering if anybody has been out to Sherman's point lately and knows what the ice conditions are ? I'm sorry I'm not trying to be a pain and I know ice conditions change but will be travelling a couple of hrs and just trying to gauge conditions in that area. Thank you
J

I was there a few days ago, ice seemed pretty good with close to 8-10” where I was.

Shermans ice is good , but i would still check around the normal soft spots just off the point , if you don't have a snowmobile it will be tough going the snow is really deep , tough going for bikes too , you might better go to one of the more popular spots where there is a packed down trail , good luck and stay safe

Hi Summer679,

Welcome to BOQ.

If no one gets back to you, I can offer this. I was at Huff's yesterday and I posted the conditions. Sherman's is not far from Huff's

There was a posts and a picture on the 04th by Deepfriedwalleye. He was between Sherman's and Willow Point(not sure where that is). He posted that there was 12 inches of black and two inches of white ice out there. He also had a side by side parked beside his shack. Seeing as the ice is much thicker, I would suspect that there is less water then at Huff's.

I hope this helps.

Good luck

Hi Guys. Thanks for your information on the ice conditions . I have an ATV but by the sounds of it it's not going to be very much help with the current snow conditions . I have a smitty so I guess I'll be getting my excercise .My understanding was that it was an easy walk from Sherman's point using the Tyler App ? So my question is now that I'll be hoofing it what is my best bet for walking out onto the ice and not having a coronary ! Thank you in advance . This site is awesome !!

Huffs would have similar snow conditions to Sherman’s at half the walk to fishing locations. Huff’s has about 4”of slush under the snow. I suspect Sherman’s also has slush due to the deep snow pushing down on the ice. BATMAN
