Went out to Huff's around 10:30 this morning.

Hard slugging even with my Smitty sled. Minus 6 and the snow was sticky, half way to our knees, slush underneath. Stepping in open auger holes under the snow. A soaker for my buddy.

Talked to three guy's coming off the ice. They were there at 7:30 and got a small one. Said the ice out near the middle was thin.

A half dozen or so shacks out. Ice was black and around 8 inches at hundred yards straight out. Didn't venture too far from the main trail, pulling was too hard.

Set up the shack on the snow to stay out of the water. Still fairly wet.

Caught one around 1:00 pm, 32 ft of water. Caught a few perch, first of the year there.

Packed up at 2:30. Met three guy's heading out. They had caught a couple in the morning and were heading out for the evening fish.

That's pretty much it.

Hoping that maybe the trail will get beat down better over the weekend. Right now, it's a workout.

The ice seemed soft today. My electric auger was bogging down because it was really digging in. I was using a spud to check the ice and the water under the snow was filling my spud holes.
