Went by at 2:00 and a boat had launched. Broke ice as far as I could see from shore, but they were out.
My wife was with me and commented that wouldn't it be better to wait for open water?
I pointed out that now there's a trail, that counts as open water.
A day or two of above freezing and we're good.

Has anyone ever contacted the township about fixing the jagged rip in the grating

I've never used the ramp so I haven't seen the hole. I know guys have been talking about it for a while now.

I've left a phone message and sent an email to Loyalist to see what they can tell us.

I would think it could be pounded flat or cut out and covered with a piece of checker plate

Just got off the phone with the Township.

They weren't aware of the problem.

Either no one contacted them or if they did, it fell through the cracks.

They're on it now.

Good Job Roblin for following up and hopefully the ramp will be fixed.

Should mention to them about lowering the dock down about 4 feet while they are there fixing the hole.

The hard ice is gone.

Yesterday there was a skim. Maybe 1/4-1/2 inch.

A boat had launched and broke ice as far out as I could see.

It's so close, I think a day or two of above freezing will do it.

I'm going to try Friday, I hope.

Hope this helps.

That’s BS. I even had it brought to the council meeting 2 years ago and was shown where it was on their minutes. Last year I spoke to workers at the ramp when they were checking the money box and dumping the garbages. He said they’ve had numerous complaints and even knew how it happened and when. He said it’s an expensive fix because they have to crane out the grate and have it repaired etc. He also noted about the ladder that was ripped off by a boat.

They are choosing not to repair it, and pleading ignorance in the process.

Good on you for pushing it Roblin. I hope you get results that I was unable to get.

Thanks for your comments BigMac.

I forwarded them to the Township. Hopefully it'll help.
