Spring is the best time for perch i find. Every year through running and gunning looking for walleye, i will bump into schools of them. You can tell by the slop on the fish finder when you do find a herd of them. I think it might be pre-spawning or post not sure, but they school up. There will usually be some 10-13 " perch in there as well. Its usually fast and furious when you do find them though. Now every year, they vary where i bump into them. Last year it was around Petes point, year before that it was tip of cow island and just off bagelite shoal before that. i have also bumped into these schools under the north side of deseronto bridge... all depends If you do find them, i find that they stay for a week or so, then gone. Usually its mid may when i start seeing this type of schooling behavior.

good luck

Perch spawn usually around or just after walleye opens. Look for shallow weed growth. This is where they will be spawning. Pretty good chance you will pick off a few walleye in there as well as they are feeding on the perch.
