Was out to Hay Bay this afternoon to drop off the ice fishing gear, take out the boating supplies & fishing tackle I picked up at Gander Mountain on monday(really inexpensive).

Everything was covered with a beautiful coat of pure white snow (not deep) but pretty. The Napanee River, Hay Bay, The water in front of the Cement Plant, Adolphus Reach, past the L&A Generating station(long thin strip of open water from the out flow).

The Upper Gap, and the whole North Channel is ice bound, I could see open water a WAY out on the big lake. Looks like it will be a while before we can troll the North Channel..

In Fact, the North Channel is solid ice all the way past Lemoine Pt and probably all the way to Kingston harbour.

The Glenora Ferry is operating VERY slowly, dodging the ducks and seagulls swimming in the open track of water.

Still have time to get your gear ready - at least 65 sleeps til opening night.

Super Dad, I hear that gander mountain in the salmon run mall is just great, heard that some like it better than bass pro in T.O. It's on my list as a place to visit this winter.

The tackle stores in Watertown are in the midst of restocking their shelves. They've got a fair amount of stuff on sale right now and they're getting shipments daily (I talked to one of the sales associates).

Some good deals on some lures at Gander Mtn and Dicks' Sports, both of these places are in the Salmon Run Mall.

Remember to declare your purchases at the border, they only charge GST & PST on your goods and you have a clear conscious and don't have to worry about anything at the border (no rubber gloves - )

Is that right SuperDad? You only have to pay GST & PST no Duty on stuff you bring back? Do you know why?
