The pressure was on, I had an old friend bringing his grandson down to Hay Bay to catch a walleye.

So I headed out on Friday, the 25th to find some fish. It didn't take long as I started near Gosport along a lilac shore and in the weeds, found the fish. Caught 4 and had three nice fish - 16-17-18 inches.

On Saturday, the two grandfathers and one grandson headed out, the young fellow wanted to see fish on the Lowrance, so we headed to Long Reach with deeper water to mark some fish. Started trolling near the red buoy at Shermans and found the marks of the fish to show the lad.

Trolled unto the Shermans weedbed and found the fish, the young guy wasn't used to feeling the walleye bites, but he sure was able to hook a bunch of perch. I handed the rod over to him and he was able to reel in a walleye. It was a good start.

Two hours of trolling brought 6 fish to the boat, kept four for the Fish Fry back in Ottawa.

He was a happy Fisher.

Sunday was a shopping day, so the fish were given a rest, many in our campground caught fish all over the Bay.

Monday, my neighbour Jerry joined me and we hit the water, fishing a weed line in front the Weese homestead on Country Rd 9.

Five minutes past and we had our first. the action continued for two hours with a total of 12 fish landed and a pair 16 inchers, three 17 inchers and a 19 incher will grace the table at a fish fry on Friday afternoon.

The fishing is outstanding, everyone is getting fish in all the usual spots in Hay Bay.

I also hit a 29 inch (7.0 lb) northern pike, hoped from the pull it was superbig walleye

All the fish caught this weekend were caught on the Uzick Spinner, shared equally with the Chartreuse and the Orange.

Fish were all taken in the weeds or right beside the weedbed.

Stay Tuned
