Just curious as to how many guys use leeches on quinte ? Do the perch rob them as bad vs worms..?

Haven't had a leech on the hook since 1987, when the pet store in Napanee Mall sold them and my wife bought a dozen as a joke, caught 6 fish on them.

Nothing recently Uzick spinner and worm and a plastic worm, they have been catching.

I had high hopes for leeches. Made traps, went to an abattoir and bought some jucy bits. No problem catching leeches.

I found them harder to keep than minnows. Used Lindy rigs to fish them and not much luck catching anything.

Last year, I even gave up on worms and started using trister tails on my worm harnesses. Had great luck with those and not feeding perch.

I used to use Gulp Alive leeches in combination with a live worm on a worm harness. The artificial leech would help keep the perch away. I don't use live bait at all anymore. Unless you are going to fish it on a plain hook, I wouldn't bother with live bait.

Catch all the leeches you want under rocks along the shore of the BOQ. I have never noticed any difference in catch rate between worms and leeches. Although leeches stay on the hook a little longer imo.

Never found them as effective as worms on any water body for pickerel. They work, but I'd rather a worm any day!

Canadian Tire in Napanee has some artificial leeches for sale, saw them yesterday, they look good.

I don't fish BOQ for Walleye in the soft water months but on the St.Lawrence 1/2oz jig head with a 5" gulp leech is deadly.
