You may have read the post I put up a few weeks ago that was essentially a whine about my inability to catch pickerel regardless of where I was fishing or what method I was using. I wanted to put up this post to thank the kind gentleman that took pity on me and took me out with him. I won't mention his name here (he knows who he is) since I don't want him flooded with messages, but I do want to thank him for the advice and for showing me what worked for him. It looks like my main issues were that I was trolling far too deep, I was using a bottom bouncer that was way too light, and I was letting out so much line for my bouncer/worm harness that it was just essentially being dragged on bottom instead of bouncing as it was intended to do. My biggest surprise was the depth of the water. We concentrated mainly in the 4-8 foot depth level and man, did we hit them!! We put over 25 fish in the boat in about 4 hours (and on an afternoon bite, at that!). I'm sure the fish have moved to deeper waters by now, but the method I was shown was definitely a killer for putting fish on board. We didn't catch any monsters, but more than half were good eater size.

Not surprisingly, most are unwilling to give away details of their particular "honey holes", but in this case, we were fishing the exact areas I had fished in the past without success...it was all a matter of details. Thanks again to the kind and generous gentleman that helped me refine my technique that will go a long way to ensuring I'm able to spend a day on the water catching instead of simply admiring the houses along the shoreline!!

Kudos to the man....

I have become more tight lipped over the years...

Good on him.... and good on you for recognition.

Nicely done.
