Encountered a water hazard last night off point anne barge....couple hundred yards out if i recall correctly.
Cruising along and before i could react i ran over a rope.
Motor sure didnt like it, and boat slowed considerably.
Could have been alot worse though, as no one was hurt, including my young daughter.
Went back to inspect the debris and picked up rope (about 2" diameter). Discovered one piece still connected to bottom/anchor and could not move it. Ended up tying an orange fish marker to it. Not sure who to advise to have this removed?

I came across these more than a few years ago. Two of them. I tied some markers to them (apparently not supposed to) but I thought it was appropriate. I then notified the CCG or Fisheries and Oceans, can't remember exactly and advised them of the hazard. They asked me for coordinates but at the time I had no electronics, gps or otherwise. I just told them the general location off Point Anne and wasn't able to get back out there to check but told them I would meet them and help them find it but no one contacted me until a while later when they said they were closing the request or something like that. There are two of these ropes in the water. Next time I"m out and have time I will mark them again and call those guys with gps coordinates off my phone gps.

Maybe this is bad advice but why not tied the loose end to a rock and chuck it far as possible = no danger of it snagging props??
